CS4101: IoT App Development

Syllabus:
  • Introduction to IoT Applications
    • IoT Fundamentals: What is IoT? IoT Applications, How IoT works?
    • IoT Ecosystem: Various technical components of IoT
    • Things in IoT: Sensors, Actuators, Smart objects
    • IoT Architecture: 3 Layer Design, 4 Layer Design, oneM2M, IoTWF, Unified Two-Stack Architecture
    • Access Technologies. Edge and Cloud. Internet. Web Applications.
  • Programming with Arduino / NodeMCU
    • MCU: Overview of basic Arduino/NodeMCU Board, Arduino IDE
    • Arduino Programming: Getting Started with In-built Arduino Sketches. Writing sketches for Digital IO, Analog IO, Reading Data from Sensors, Sending Command to Actuators, Storing Data in Memory, Showing Results in Connected Display (LCD, OLED).
    • Serial Communication: UART, I2C, SPI, and their use
  • Basics of IoT App Development
    • Establish Connectivity among different components: Microcontroller, Sensor, Actuator, Access Network, Internet, Cloud
    • Establish Communication: Communication from Sensor to Cloud Server.
    • Sending Notification: Sending E-mail/SMS notifications to Application Users.
  • Advanced IoT App Development
    • Overview of Smart IoT Device and Advanced IoT Access Technologies
    • Developing advanced IoT Application using smart IoT devices
